When temperatures drop in Florida, manatees seek refuge in the freshwater springs where water stays at a constant 72 degrees. This photo was taken at Silver Springs where swimming is prohibited. So, after many attempts of positioning my paddleboard upstream and having the current push me, hanging my camera in its heavy underwater housing over the side of the paddleboard, and ~ 100 photos later came this split shot.
